I was blown away after seeing Ridley Scott's Bladerunner back in 1982 ... it's truly by far the most brilliant, influential SF film ever made. When I heard Ridley was releasing BR in 2007, I thought what an opportunity to produce an illustration for Bladerunner : the final cut. As a painter & illustrator, I've decided to try a different approach "stippled technique" which is done in pen & ink. I've collected numerous photos from BR and done a few rough sketches to get the feel of the classic film noires of the forties, thrillers such as The Big Sleep & The Maltese Falcon. The illustration captures the essence of the hard-boiled detective genre, created in the tradition of Sam Spade & Philip Marlowe. This labour of love is dedicated to: Ridley Scott, Philip K. Dick, Joanna Cassidy, my dear friend Walter Gard & to all loyal BR fans out there.
