After entering
the rear of the Bradbury Building and signing in Bryan and I were somehow
separated. Progressing into the darkened lobby I really had no inkling
as to what to expect. Climbing the wide stairs to the second floor it
took my eyes a few moments to adjust to the dark.
The upper hallways
had been turned into the Bradbury of Blade Runner. Fog machines spewed
thick fog, revolving spotlights from the upper floors cut the fog revealing
the enormous bar and tall bar tables against the walls. On the other side
was a Dim Sum buffet. Each bar table contained a square glass container
with a candle, an image of a geisha showing through the side.
With no Bryan
to be found, I darted about photographing everything in sight. I was on
sensory overload trying to take in every detail.
I carried with
me a small “Final Cut” poster. In between photographing the
building and people in attendance, I would have cast and crew members
sign the poster.
I am sure everyone
attending had an enjoyable time. I was able to talk to people I had not
seen in years. I would like to thank Ronnee Sass and her team at Warner
Home Video Publicity and Charles de Lauzirika, and Paul Prischman (a man
of his word) at Lauzirika Motion Picture Company for a truly unforgettable
evening.
