of the eye), on a Nexus-6 replicant. Dr. Eldon
Tyrell (Joe Turkel) wants to see the Voight-
Kampff test performed on a normal human being
before he supplies a Nexus-6 prototype. Rachael
is the chosen subject and after the test Deckard
discovers that she is a replicant, but Rachael,
like Deckard, has been programmed with
'implants' or memories of other people, in her
case with the memories of Tyrell's niece.

During a later visit to Deckard's flat she
produces a photograph of herself as a child,
with her supposedly natural mother. The
following screenplay and stage directions are
taken from the original shooting script. Minor
adjustments were made during the actual filming.

Interior: Deckard's apartment - night.
The place is a mess. Deckard walks to
the cocktail cabinet and pours himself
a drink.

Rachael: "You think I'm a replicant
don't you? Look."

She goes to him holding a picture in
her hand. It's an old snapshot, a

little girl with her mother and father.

Rachael: "It's me with my parents."

Deckard finally speaks, takes off his
wet raincoat and throws it on a chair.

Deckard: "Yeah - and when you were six
and you and your brother snuck into an
empty building...... through the basement
window. You were going to play doctor.
He showed you his. When it got to your turn
you chickened out and ran. Remember that?"

She looks up and he's staring at her, but she
dosn't seem to notice.

Deckard: "You ever tell anybody that?
Tyrell, your mother, anybody? You
remember that bush outside your window
with a spider in it?"

Rachael looks up at him.

Deckard: "You watched her build a web
all summer. Orange body, green
legs...... and one day there was a big egg in it."

Her voice is getting very small.
Rachael nods faintly.
